The Flyers are waiting, contract in hand, for Peter Forsberg to declare himself ready to return to the NHL. But with the former Flyers' captain still at least a week away from testing his surgically repaired right foot on the ice, a decision from Forsberg likely won't be made until early February. "Peter is his own worst critic," Flyers' GM Paul Holmgren said. "He has to be at a very high level before he commits himself to coming back." Forsberg is currently in Stockholm, where he will attend an annual gala for Swedish athletes Monday. He is reportedly in excellent shape and is anxious to test his foot with hard skating in another week or two. "I know Peter, and he does not want to come back unless he's 100 percent sure he can play at a high level," Flyers' left wing Simon Gagne said. "He told me he was embarrassed by the way he played last season, and he wouldn't go through that again." If Forsberg decides to return to the NHL, it almost certainly will be as a Flyer.
